Here are three takeaways from the Seahawks' 17-13 loss to the Bengals

The Seahawks had several chances late in the game, but could not pull away with the road victory.

CINCINNATI — The Seattle Seahawks' three-game winning streak was snapped in a close game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

With several chances to take the lead, the Seahawks fell to the Bengals 17-13 on Sunday afternoon.

Here are three takeaways from the Seahawks loss.

Missed opportunities

The Bengals won the game, but they gave the Seahawks several chances to steal the victory.

Facing a four-point deficit in the fourth quarter, the Seahawks were stopped not once, but twice in the red zone to snap its three-game winning streak.

Seattle was nearing a touchdown when Geno Smith was sacked on fourth-and-goal.

While that seemed like the Seahawks' final chance, Seattle's defense earned a quick stop to give the offense another shot to reclaim the lead.

Once again, Smith led the Seahawks near the end zone, but the offense was stopped just short.

Cincinnati scored touchdowns on its first two possessions but punted six times, giving Seattle plenty of late chances.

Ignore the box score

The Seahawks' 17-13 loss Sunday afternoon goes against the traditional box score in every way.

Seattle had more passing yards, more rushing yards, more first downs, higher efficiency on a per-play basis and had possession for nearly 10 more minutes than Cincinnati.

They still lost.

The Seahawks were better at most facets of the game, but they were lacking in one big box score metric: Turnovers.

Smith turned the ball over twice, while Joe Burrow had just one interception. That slim margin was all the Bengals needed to get a win this week.

Jamal Adams is back

Safety Jamal Adams' return to the Seahawks lineup was shortlived when he exited in the first quarter with a concussion during the Seahawks' dominating victory over the New York Giants on Oct. 2.

With a bye week sandwiched in between games, Adams had enough time to recover and get back into the lineup.

This time, Adams finished the game without an injury, totaling four tackles and a tackle for a loss.

Since signing a four-year, $70 million contract with the Seahawks, Adams missed 28 of 55 games (51%).

Let's hope he can stay healthy and get back to his All-Pro level - a development that would elevate the Seahawks' ceiling as a defensive unit.
